The short version
zOffice is a private tool. Your documents, the PDFs and pictures you open, and the spreadsheets and photos you use for copies stay on your own device: they are never uploaded to our server. We never sell your data, and we don't share your documents or personal information with third-party companies. Your data stays yours.
What our server receives
Our server delivers the website's files (pages, styles, scripts, fonts and the PDF and text-recognition tools). Like any web server, it may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, file requested, browser type) for security and to keep the service running. These logs never contain your documents.
What is stored on your device
Your browser keeps, for this site only:
- your documents, templates and the pictures in them (in the browser's IndexedDB storage), so you can continue later;
- an unfinished drawing from the drawing studio, saved every half minute so it is not lost if the tab closes (deleted when you place it on a page or start a new one);
studio-tweaksandrecent-fonts: your brush settings and recently used fonts;zoffice:themeandzoffice:style: your colour mode and style;zoffice:recreate: your options for recreating files (languages, font);- the text-recognition language data you used, cached so it does not download again.
You can delete documents on the start screen, or remove everything by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Clearing it deletes your documents too, so download a .zoffice copy of anything you want to keep. The only cookies zOffice itself sets are the sign-in cookie for accounts and a short-lived one used during Google sign-in.
Accounts and sign-in
If you create a zOffice account, we store your email address and either a securely hashed password (we cannot read it) or, if you use "Continue with Google", your Google account ID and name as Google shares them with us. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in on each device; you can sign out from the Account page at any time.
Services that only work when you use them
Some features need a service outside your browser. They see only what that feature needs, only when you use it, and never your documents unless stated:
- AI tools (zOffice Pro): only when you press Translate or Find fields, the text of the chosen text boxes goes through our server to Anthropic, which provides the AI model, and the answer comes back. Your name, email and account are not sent with it, and pictures never are. Our server does not keep, read or log the text; it only counts how much each account used today. Anthropic handles it under its commercial terms, which do not allow training its models on it. If you would rather no text ever leaves your device, simply don't use the AI buttons: everything else works without them.
- Shared designs (zOffice Pro): only when you press "Create link", your browser locks the design with a new random key before it leaves your device. Our server stores the locked file and never receives the key: it travels in the part of the link after "#", which browsers do not send to servers. We cannot open or read shared designs. If you choose named people, only those signed-in accounts can download the file. A shared design is deleted when its link expires (1, 7 or 30 days) or when you remove it.
- Payments: if you buy zOffice Pro, Paddle.com handles the payment. Your card details go to Paddle and never reach our server.
Ads
Free use shows a few ads. On the home page they may come from Google, which can use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads (and, in some regions and with your consent, to personalise them); Google explains how at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. The editor, where your documents are, never loads ads or scripts from other companies: it may show a sponsor's banner, which is a plain picture from our own site, and the sponsor learns nothing unless you click it. zOffice Pro shows no ads.
